Cheating Is it ok?
Cheating is often looked upon in a dark light. When the word is mentioned it commonly brings with it a sense of deception, disloyalty and bad feeling. This would be expected as it is commonly related to those emotions in many situations throughout the world however I will be looking at cheating within gaming, is it really that bad?
Cheats, Cheat Codes , passwords and methods to advance in a game without actually earning it through the usual method are within almost every game today. They allow the gamer to unlock the full potential of a game. Without cheats many gamers would have been stuck, bored or confused. With cheats you can obtain features that you may not have normally been able to experience through average gameplay. This is why game developers view this as an important part of any video game. Grand Theft Auto for example is the biggest selling video game series in the last 10 years. If you go any cheats website you will see that there are many. Grand Theft Auto Cheats available to experience all weapons, unlimited life and more wanted stars. All these features would be hard to achieve in the normal game, so they let the average gamer experience something which they didn’t think they would get chance to normally.
Cheating can in any situation can trigger emotions in the brain which creates a sense of danger, this can excite some people. Cheating within a video game may for some also trigger this sense of dominance and danger, making the gamer feel something they would not usually experience from standard gameplay. This increasing the chances that a gamer may wish to extend the lifetime of the game by a little extra.
Cheating within video games needs to be done in the right situation. If it is to be deemed acceptable then it should only be in single player mode, who likes to cheat friends in multi-player mode? (I bet a lot of you would secretly). If you want to have any dignity though, please don’t , it really isn’t worth the hassle to cheat in multi player, you lose respect and gaming partners. Cheating is a means to win but only against the artificial intelligence, use it wisely!
